Pay: $62,000-$72,000 Annual Salary (DOQ), plus 85% of lessons taught

Job Summary:
Under general direction and utilizing broad objectives and guidelines, oversees the operation and services of the Jekyll Island Authority golf courses, mini golf & bikes complex. Play a key role on the leadership team that will implement the execution efforts of the Jekyll Island Golf Improvement Plan. Day-to-day responsibilities include directing staff, enforcing Authority policies, overseeing the operations of the pro shop, practice ranges, coordinating and managing golf tournaments, coordinating with golf course maintenance, providing general info to guests regarding other Island amenities, resources, and activities, scheduling, staffing, directing, and training of employees, and ensuring cash management guidelines are followed.​

Description of duties:
Promote an exceptional "golf experience," and provide excellent services and programs for all patrons.
Oversees and leads the Head Golf Professional(s) and all golf department staff.
Ensures the smooth and efficient operation of the golf facilities by directing activities such as collecting greens fees, cart fees, scheduling tee times, renting clubs, selling merchandise, instructing visitors, etc.
Prepares an annual report and budget for golf; strives to operate golf within budget parameters; works to increase golf center revenues and minimize losses.
Works with JIA staff to ensure the Jekyll Island Golf Improvement Plan is executed in the best interests of the Jekyll Island Authority and its future golf operations.
Researches and promotes future technologies and efficiencies that would benefit the JIGC.
Provides the Sr Director of Amenities forward thinking for programs and facilities related to golf activities to ensure that JIGC is on an upward trajectory in customer impressions, and that competent golf instruction is available to visitors and members.
Provides the Sr. Director of Amenities monthly reporting on profitability, expenses, membership usage, rounds per course and average daily round cost per course.
Collaborates with Director of Marketing & Communications to fully promote the Jekyll Island Golf courses and Jekyll Island in a positive manner across golf and non-golf platforms to the public to increase facility awareness. Represents the Authority at various professional activities, including holding office in the various associations, or playing in various PGA tournaments, etc.
Leads the effort to draw golfers from out of the area in conjunction with our lodging partners.
Coordinates daily with the Director of Golf maintenance and Golf Course Superintendent to ensure proper balance of space for maintenance needs and play requirements are being met.
Oversees the development of operating procedures and training manuals for the golf operation.
Oversees membership operations and ensures that all contractual obligations are being honored and regularly scheduled membership communications are maintained.
Enforces Authority rules and regulations, and rules that govern the use of the golf course, golf carts, and golf facilities by members and guests.
Operates and maintains reputable pro shops and practice range; ensures that each facility is staff appropriately with competent employees, ensures the safekeeping of assets, inventory, and resources.
Coordinates and collaborates with Ladies and men’s associations, golf groups when planning various golf events; dates, times, course preparation, rule sheets, scoring, etc.
Collaborates with restaurant lease partner to ensure successful, positive customer experience.
Provides leadership and coordination in execution of the Paulk Cup signature golf tournament.
Delegates golf related duties to Staff, such as efficient operation of tournaments held; including handling starting times and tee times, ensuring golf cart availability, preparing score cards and sheets; keeping play continuity, and determining tournament winners, issuing golf carts and ensures that enough carts are in staging areas via appropriate staff, the operation of the pro shop, which includes scheduling, monitoring the opening and closing, managing staff, ensuring quality merchandise is obtained for sales, verifying daily reports, etc.
Conducts monthly inventory of equipment and supplies; ensures that supplies are sufficient to meet customer demand, cash management, and ensures proper POS system use, credit card operations, daily reporting, and deposits.
Develops crisis plans and implements strategies in conjunction with appropriate JIA departments and other officials in event of emergencies and natural disasters.
Follows established safety and first aid procedures, including proper documentation of accidents.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
Minimum of eight (8) years’ related professional experience with at least five (5) years experience as a PGA golf professional.
Minimum of three (3) recent years in business management and leadership role required; knowledge of managing, mentoring, and inspiring people; cultivating a positive teamwork environment.
Have and maintain Class A-1 or A-4 PGA Professional designation.
Must have working knowledge of golf maintenance, operations, and maintenance procedures.
Must have computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and knowledge of POS systems.
Must have excellent customer service skills, be enthusiastic, and have outstanding communications skills.
Valid driver’s license required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
More than 50% of the typical workday may be spent walking, sitting, standing, and using repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, or fingers.
Between 25% and 50% of the typical workday may be spent climbing stairs, pushing, and pulling.
Less than 25% of the typical day is spent balancing, stooping and/or crouching, kneeling, reaching.
Sensory abilities required are feeling, grasping, and touching with more than 50% of the time spent talking and hearing.
Visual abilities to perform tasks required are to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment and determine the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures.
Noise levels are considered normal
Work is conducted within an inside, office setting and outside with exposure to extreme heat, high humidity, and occasionally adverse weather conditions as well occasional extreme cold.
Will be exposed to hazards such as moving mechanical parts and moving vehicles.
May be subject to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, oils, odors, dusts, mists, or poor ventilation.
Will be subject to close quarters, such as narrow aisles or passageways/hallways.
