Denver Parks and Recreation’s Golf Division is looking to hire an enthusiastic and hard-working Assistant Superintendent to join our team at John F. Kennedy Golf Course. Kennedy Golf Course boasts 36-holes of golf (400 acres) and is a great landing spot for high-performing turfgrass professionals who enjoy a fast-paced environment. The Assistant Superintendent will report directly to the Superintendent and will be responsible for ensuring high-quality turf conditions, executing golf course operation priorities set forth by the Superintendent, and managing the day-to-day course maintenance.

The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent duties include:

  • Directing and supervising the work of up to 25 seasonal outdoor workers
  • Supervising irrigation and water management practices
  • Overseeing and conducting chemical and pesticide application
  • Managing the planning and execution of irrigation system changes and updates, and course construction projects (as needed)
  • Ensuring proper winterization of the course including fencing, tarping, end-of-season agronomy practices, irrigation winterization, and chemical applications
  • Monitoring, controlling, and ordering maintenance inventory
  • Enforcing and following safety standards and practices for employees
  • Partnering with their assigned Recruiter to attract, interview, hire, and retain seasonal employees
  • Recommending employee disciplinary action to the Superintendent as needed
  • Performing other related duties as assigned
