Lyman Orchards, '2019 CSGA Distinguished Club of the Year' is seeking a seasonal or year round Teaching Professional for the 2023 season.  This public facility has two 18 hole Championship courses, one nine hole par 3 course and two driving ranges with multiple short game areas and practice putting greens.  The Golf Center is recognized as one of the Top 50 Public Driving Ranges in the United States by the Golf Range Association of America and currently has a team of eight teaching professionals.  The Golf Center is open year round with indoor instruction using three Trackman simulators through the winter months. 

The staff of teaching professionals is led by Director of Golf, 2019 Youth Player Development Award Winner of the Connecticut Section PGA, John Dipollina.  Jon Wilson, 2020 Player Development Award Winner of the CT Section PGA, and Marissa Kulig Crow, 2022 LPGA National Profeasional of the Year both run the men's and women's golf programs.  The successful "Golf Fore Women" program has grown each season since Marissa started in 2013 with over 1,800 women taking classes this season.  The candidate will teach women's classes, junior camps and private lessons.

Experience Required

  • Class A Professional Preferred
  • PGM Student or B-8 Acceptable
  • LPGA Class B or Apprentice Acceptable

Essential Responsibilities

  • Only asked to work one of two weekend days
  • Minimal to no pro shop attendant time
  • Works closely with the Director of Golf to plan and develop instruction programs that appeal to all golfer segments in the surrounding market
  • Provides golf instruction to private students
  • Instructor in Golf Fore Women programming utilizing standards set from LPGA lead instructor (largest ladies clinic program in the country)
  • Instructor in all junior golf programs
  • Programming utilizing standards set from PGA lead instructor
  • Coaches spring/summer junior camps as needed
  • Coaches PGA Jr. League team (Largest PGA Jr. League program in New England)
  • Provides training and development to other instructors as directed and as needed
  • Assists in the supervision and upkeep of the practice facilities to ensure that safe, clean, organized and professional conditions exist throughout
  • Assists in keeping all teaching aids and instruction inventory in excellent condition
  • Utilize state-of-the-art teaching and learning theories, and be able to integrate the use of training aids, video tape and club fitting into the facilities instructional programs when necessary
  • Participate in administrative duties as directed and as needed to ensure smooth operation of the golf instruction program

  • Perform some of the opening and closing duties of the instruction program as directed
  • Represent the facility in the community and with local businesses through promotional activities and programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • 40 hours per week maximum
