The Assistant Golf Professional must be an outgoing individual with a passion for the game of golf and customer service. This is a position for an energetic, motivated professional who is looking to grow a variety of golf related skills and is interested in working towards his/her own Head Professional position. The position reports to the Head Golf Professional and will assist with the management of daily golf operations including managing and tracking play, protecting and controlling assets, supervising golf staff, assisting with all merchandising functions, managing tournaments, teaching lessons, playing with members/guests, and providing other professional services to ensure an exceptional golf experience.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Promotion of the game of golf, and the Kiawah Island Club
• Complete the requirements of PGA membership and maintain an active classification with The PGA of America
• Supervise and manage the total golf operations in a professional and efficient manner in the absence of the Head Golf Professional and Senior Assistant Professional
• Provide excellent customer service, professional advice and assistance to all patrons
• Control and manage play; ensure guest check-in and accurate accounting coordinates with the golf shop and Caddie Services
• Monitor pace of play on the golf course, manage issues and ensure groups respect the enjoyment of other golfers
• Manage the total operation of the practice facility while working collectively with golf services and Caddie Master Inc to ensure service standards are upheld
• Provide golf instruction and group clinics that is consistent with instructional methods, policies and procedures
• Play with members, guests and course raters
• Compete in regional and national events to promote the Club’s image and network
• Consistently increase knowledge base in business, the game of golf, technology, and teaching
• Supervise, schedule and train golf shop personnel as directed by the Head Golf Professional
• Assist in purchasing, receipt, display, inventory control, promotion and sales of merchandise
• Conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image at all times
• Proficient in Foretees, Golf Genius and Jonas point of sales software along with the ability to read sales reports and offer corrective action where needed
• Be informed on, and promote all club activities and services
• Manage the handicap program
• Work collectively with Member Services to forecast the club calendar and event schedule
• Assist in planning and budgeting for the golf operations
• Perform and excel in a Tournament Director role when assigned major events
• Continue to actively grow junior and ladies golf development programming
• Coordinate events with GoKiawah and support with junior golf instruction
• Assist in managing tournaments and outings

Qualifications for the position are listed below:

• Ability to work in various outside conditions
• Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time
• Ability to lift at least 40 lbs

Assistant Professionals are also eligible for:

• Golf lesson rate - $120/Hour - $62.50/Half Hour – Revenue 87.5%
