 Salary: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 Per Year

 Total Anticipated Compensation Up To: $55,000.00

Overview

The Venice Golf and Country Club is an 18-Hole, member-owned private club in Venice, FL.  VGCC has 360 golf members, playing 34,000 rounds per year.  The golf course offers multiple sets of tees for players of all abilities and stretches out to 6,800 yards. A renovation was just completed on the golf course.  Bunkers, rough, collars and 2 bridges were completed in 2022. Other amenities include private carts, 4 tennis courts, Olympic size pool, newly renovated fitness center and a newly renovated full-service clubhouse and dining room.

Experience Required

The Venice Golf and Country Club is looking for a highly motivated, 1st Assistant Golf Professional for employment at a private golf facility.  This individual should be responsible, have attention to detail, be well organized and provide exceptional customer service to all members and guests.  We are looking for an individual that has experience in everyday golf operations, outside staff management, and tournament operations.  The right candidate will have knowledge of golf instruction, player development programs, club fitting, merchandising/retail and club repair.   Extensive knowledge of Golf Genius is mandatory.  Chelsea Tee Time System, Jonas POS, Excel, Word, and Publisher is strongly encouraged.  The workweek will consist of approximately 50-60 hours per week in season and 40 hours per week out of season.  PGA/LPGA Member preferred, however an Apprentice currently in good standing will be considered.

Essential Responsibilities

The Assistant Golf Professional assists in the management of day-to-day golf operations at the facility.  All duties of the position shall be performed with a commitment to the highest level of member and guest service with a focus on total customer satisfaction.  This position is designed as a lead assistant role who is looking to advance his or her career.  It will provide the necessary exposure, experience and preparation for the individual to pursue future growth and development within the golf industry.

Job Tasks/Duties:  The team member’s job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image at all times
  • Service and customer focused attitude
  • Greet all Members and Guests by name and in a professional and friendly manner
  • Experienced computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficient in other applications, i.e. email, internet, tournament, database & POS
  • Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills
  • Work with and assist in coordinating golf activities with other departments
  • Assist with all opening / closing procedures and POS operation
  • Accurately manage the Chelsea tee time system
  • Assist with all golf shop merchandising and display creations
  • Self-motivated with desire to promote and market golf shop merchandise
  • Assist in the inventory control of hard goods, soft goods, and special orders including: ordering procedures, receiving procedures, point of sale transactions, pricing procedures, display and sales
  • Assist in managing facility tournament operations.
  • Proficiency in the operation of tournament software (Golf Genius mandatory)
  • Assist in tournament planning, promotion, preparation, scoring, announcements, billing, and follow-up
  • Assist with management of outside service staff to ensure the highest quality of customer service is achieved
  • Assist in managing golf car fleet operation, and practice facility
  • Maintain a credible golf game and remain current on teaching innovations
  • Maintain and promote a positive professional image within the community
  • Provide golf instruction and play with Members when available with approval from Head Professional
