The Baltimore Golf Academy is the instructional component of the Baltimore Municipal Golf Corporation.  The purpose of the academy is to grow the game of golf by providing affordable instruction to players of varying ages and abilities and to reach out to the community to help create new golfers.

Instruction takes place at Pine Ridge Golf Course.

Position Description

Do you love the game of golf and want to share your passion?   

This teaching position is perfect for a new instructor or someone who wants to take on a few days a week during the busy season.  

The Teaching Professional position will play a key role in teaching and educating new golfers.  Our goal for the 2022 season is to have a 75% retention rate of players new to the game.  Your key responsibility is to help players set and achieve their goals so they want to return to our facilities. Mainly, your job is to make sure they are having fun, staying safe and improving!

The majority of instruction takes place from April through October.

Classes, clinics, junior camps and lessons take place 7 days a week and there are flexible hours for you to develop your clientele as our driving range is open from sun up to 10PM in the summer. Set class hours will be posted at the beginning of the season and you will be asked to commit to certain days of the week.

You will need to become familiar with our teaching methods, BGA website, and scheduling tools. Bring your ideas and best practices as we are open to improvement. 

We currently use the V-1 Coaching App for our video instruction and  Flightscope for fittings and better player analysis.  We use TimeTap as our online scheduling app.

The Golf Instructor/Education Specialist will report to the Director of Instruction.

Responsibilities include: 

•Conducts or Assists in Level 1 and Level 2 classes and clinics

•Conducts or Assists in Level 1.5 On Course Classes for new players

•Conducts or Assists with our Junior Golf Programs (LPGA JR Girls, JR Leagues, Camps, Clinics)

•Assists in corporate, social and community clinics

•Ensures consistent teaching philosophy are being administered

•Teaches group and individual lessons

•Attend departmental meetings as required (Not many, we’d rather teach than conduct meetings!)

•Helps manage golf club inventories 

•Directs and promotes golf instruction safety program

•Supervises information requests regarding or pertaining but limited to, lessons, golf reservations and instructional programs 

•Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position Requirements

•LPGA members or apprentices, USGTF, PGA 

•A four-year college degree preferred

•Highly polished interpersonal skills

•Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

•Highly organized, efficient and detail oriented

•Strong aptitude and passion for the golf

•Social Media experience including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc…
