Radnor Valley Country Club is a private club located in the heart of Philadelphia’s Main Line focused on providing a positive member experience and boasting a diverse and inclusive membership. The club includes an 18-hole, Hugh Wilson designed, and Ault-Clark renovated par 70 championship golf course with separate driving range, putting and short game areas. Routed over rolling hills with numerous water features, the course is a classic example of a northeastern parkland design.  The club also boasts indoor and outdoor tennis facilities, pool and a 1917 renovated mansion as its clubhouse.  The club’s pro shop and cart storage is located in its own separate building.

This position reports to the club’s General Manager but will be responsible for controlling and managing the entire golf operation. A strong understanding of the golf business and budgeting and reporting with at least 5 years’ experience is required. 

The position must place a strong emphasis on customer service and personal communications with all members and be able to work as a team with management and staff of Radnor Valley Country Club focused on generating daily play to maximize rounds, increasing golf membership, and implementing or improving revenue streams (to include outside events and member sales.)


Duties will be broken into five primary areas:

 Golf Operations

  • Ensure strong customer service and a welcoming atmosphere for all members and guests, including playing time with membership.
  • Manage of all golf operations including outside staff, inside staff, oversight of golf cart fleet.
  • Oversee and manage Pro Shop retail operation (ordering, inventory, sales, budgeting)
  • Planning and budgeting for all golf operations
  • Manage and coordinate outside non-member use of course (school teams, etc.)
  • Work closely with the club’s Golf Chairman and Committee, attending all meetings of same and reporting decisions of Committee to GM.
  • Work closely with Course Superintendent to ensure optimal playing conditions and protect course’s natural resources.

  Junior Programming

  • Head Professional must have experience developing and running a Junior Program to serve the club’s growing membership with children including teaching, camps, tournaments and family events.

Golf Programing

  • Know and understand multiple tournament formats, handicapping, tournament set-up, scorecard set-up, planning, scoring and announcements.
  • Proficiency in the Rules of Golf to serve as tournament rules official.
  • Proficiency in the use of Golf Genius computer program
  • Responsible for the scheduling, management, and oversight of all internal golf tournaments.
  • Responsible for developing and suggesting new programming activities (tournaments; tournament formats; men’s, women’s, mixed and family events)
  • Responsible for management and oversight of all outside golf tournaments working in conjunction with Superintendent, Food and Beverage staff, and other club management.


  • Responsible for overseeing entire golf instruction program.
  • Head Pro must be qualified to teach and will have opportunity to do so.
  • Responsible for developing and managing golf instruction clinics and camps.

Member Communications

  • Responsible for implementing and overseeing strong customer service operation.
  • Responsible for regular communication with members regarding conditions of play, upcoming events, course availability notifications, education opportunities, etc.


  • Class A PGA Professional
  • Five years of private club experience preferred.
