Job Description

Position: Assistant Golf Professional

Salary Range: $44,000 - $52,000

Summary:

Under the direction of the Head Golf Professional, this position is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the golf course and pro shop. This position is also responsible for teaching private, group and junior golf lessons.

  • Assist in the daily operations of the pro shop and clubhouse, driving range, golf lessons, lesson area, greens fees, golf cart rental, merchandising, purchasing, display and sales.
  • Hire, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate assigned staff; provide or coordinate staff training, and work with employees to correct deficiencies.
  • Assist with the preparation and monitoring of the budget, manage revenues and expenditures and prepare financial reports. Prepare purchase orders, RFP’s, and invoice requests. Prepare short and long-range revenue/expenditure projections, check revenue streams, etc. Develop and implement strategies to increase usage of assigned areas.
  • Monitor cash handling procedures and ensure compliance; complete cash reports and bank runs.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and tracking of a marketing strategy; notifying the public of District events, sales, and promotions of merchandise.
  • Responsible for administrative duties as required; particularly in terms of registration; schedule, score and run golf tournaments; data entry into Rec Biz, etc.
  • Play the golf course to maintain a current knowledge of the course set-up and operations; maintain proficiency at the game of golf; and ensure proper course conditions.
  • Implementation of the Districts Tee time system, monitor tee times, and course play.
  • Instruct private and group lessons. Assist with Junior Golf Camp.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with District employees, vendors, various outside users groups and associations (Men’s, Ladies and Senior Clubs) to coordinate their programs, tournaments, special events and league play. Promote the game of golf and the golf course to all.
  • Prepare, enforce, maintain and modify policies and procedures manuals; conduct periodic staff meetings to provide and gather information, answer questions and respond to complaints and concerns, both internally and externally.
  • Observe necessary precautions to assure general public safety; inspect facilities for safety and maintenance needs.
  • Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of golf.

Experience and Skills

  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Graduation from high school or completion of GED.
  • Two (2) years experience in the golf profession and teaching private, group and junior instruction.
  • Must be enrolled or completed Level I of the PGA/GPTP or LPGA/B certification.
  • Current certifications in AED/CPR or the ability to obtain such certifications within sixty (60) days of employment.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within thirty (30) days of employment. Must be insurable by the District carrier at the onset and for the duration of employment.
