Job Summary
The First Assistant Golf Professional is responsible for assisting the General Manager with managing and overseeing all elements of the Club's golf-related activities resulting in an exceptional overall golf experience for Club members and guests. Provides top quality individual and group instruction to members and guests.

Essential Job Tasks
1. Oversees the Golf Shop and outside services to ensure day-to-day activities in the driving range consistent with Club policy.
2. Assists with recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation of the outside services staff.
3. Assists the General Manager with the evaluation of the golf staff.
4. Monitors the range to provide member assistance and ensures range standards.
5. Provides quality private lessons and group clinics, desire to create women's, junior's and beginners golf programs with a heavy focus on family golf..
6. Provides golf instruction for the Club Summer Camp.
7. Assists the General Manager with managing all aspects of the golf program.
8. Provides and interprets golf policies, rules and regulations.
9. Provides members with club fitting and golf club repair services.
10. Assists in the coordination of tournaments and special events.
11. Prepares, updates and maintains tee sheets and tournament score boards for tournaments and events.
12. Coordinates pairings for Golf Leagues, monitors attendance and submits billing to accountant.
13. Assigning and creating weekly "e-reminders" for golfers.
14. Performs starter or marshal duties as needed.
15. Maintains and attractive, orderly appearance in and around the pro shop, practice facilities and other golf related areas to create a high quality environment.
16. Devotes a reasonable amount of time to play golf with members of all skill levels.
17. Maintains playing ability and works to stay competent in all areas of their game.
18. Represents the Club in area professional events including local, state or national events with the approval of the General Manager.
19.Interprets and enforces the Club's rules and regulations and ensures that the outside services staff is familiar with and enforces these rules.
20. Consults with the General Manager about golf course and practice range operations, maintenance and rules.
21. Ensures that all staff are presentable, well groomed and in established uniforms at all times.
22. Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe working environment, with emphasis on promoting employee health and safety.
23. Follows directives and completes assignments with minimum of supervision.
24. Attends and actively participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
25. Performs all work according to established procedures.
26. Works under the general supervision and direction of the General Manager.
27. Avails him/herself, to the best of his/her abilities, to directly assist in the furtherance of member satisfaction. Always maintains a friendly, hospitable and helpful attitude with all members, guests and fellow employees.
28. Any other duties as assigned by management.
Education, Licenses and Certifications
College or university degree preferred with at least three years of related experience/training, or, equivalent combined work and experience.
Class "A" member in good standing with the PGA or LPGA of America preferred or working towards completing.
Experience
Must have a minimum of three years of experience as an Assistant Golf Professional at a quality, recognized golf club.
Prior experience in all facets of golf operations including inventory and financial control; employee motivation and training; golf instruction; tournament and event management; working knowledge of golf course maintenance.
Expertise in golfing rules and regulations.
Knowledge and understanding of typical golf course procedures.
Fully knowledgeable of all opening and closeout procedures of the Golf Pro Shop.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Event-Man and Golf Genius tournament software required. Knowledge of IBS POS preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment may be moderate to loud.
Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.
Frequent repetitive motions.
Continuous standing and walking.
