Job Summary

The Program Manager provides leadership to program and curriculum development, planning, scheduling, promoting, and successfully executing instruction in his/her program location service area in accordance with The First Tee Life Skills and Golf Experience.  The position includes developing, delivering, and evaluating instructional programs; training participants, volunteers, and staff; managing participant and volunteer progression, development, and retention; managing program budgets; implementing program policies; ensuring the safety of participants and volunteers; and building alliances with community partners and facilities.  The position currently involves approx. 75% direct teaching and 25% administration and oversight.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Program Development:

  • Create, manage, conduct, weeknight, weekend, and summer Open Enrollment programs/camps and implement The First Tee Golf and Life Skills curriculum as outlined in The First Tee guidelines
  • Coordinate and administer registration, schedules, transportation and lesson plans for Open Enrollment programs
  • Manage all summer camps that take place at RCVLLC to include registration, volunteer schedules, volunteer daily briefings/assignments, curriculum and program execution.
  • Create and maintain program documents such as registration and certification materials, schedule and special event notices, partner agreements, and program handbooks
  • Satisfy equipment and educational material needs and maintain the quality of equipment and all instructional areas
  • Cultivate and develop new relationships within the south Dallas community to increase participation at RCVLLC

 

Participant Development:

  • Must become proficient in all aspects of The First Tee Life Skills Experience Curriculum and The First Tee Coach Philosophy
  • Conduct parent and participant orientations at the beginning of program sessions
  • Track and report participants’ information and progress to administrative offices through e-mail as well as Salesforce
  • Teach The First Tee Golf and Life Skills Experience and ensure administration of certification process
  • Develop a retention plan to move participants through the certification levels in south region
  • Encourage upper level youth to participate in tournament opportunities and additional private lessons and educational opportunities
  • Develop participants by providing a safe, fun environment, recognition and awards for high-achievers, assisting with equipment needs, USGA handicap and game-tracking, resumes, etc.
  • Communicate to Ace coordinator regarding participants on track to complete Eagle certification

 

Administration:

  • Assist in developing and adhering to the program budget especially in regards to RCVLLC
  • Report program operations and information to the Director
  • Manage service area communications and assist with website and social media
  • Maintain records and photos of programs and special events run by manager
  • Manage and record all payments made by participants at all locations
  • Develop understanding of use of Salesforce to manage participant and parent information for programming
  • Direct communications with parents pertaining to programming and concerns.

 

Volunteer and Coach Development:

  • Recruit, screen, train, schedule, retain, evaluate, and reward Program Coaches, Volunteer Coaches, and Administrative Volunteers
  • Develop a volunteer support system to ensure recognition and longevity through “volunteer appreciation days”
  • Coordinate staffing of coaching necessary events held on site at RCVLLC
  • Manage and train programming interns provided during summer camp programming, including scheduling, retaining, evaluating, and educating during the course of their internship.

 

 

 

Development and Community Outreach:

  • Manage and grow National School Program, Open Enrollment, Partner Programs, and Corporate Events and in his/her area/RCVLLC
  • Represent the Chapter to the community and aid in fundraising, marketing, public relations and communication efforts
  • Participate in and assist in coordination of logistics for special events, golf shows, tournaments, etc.
  • Assist in the creation of promotional materials to increase awareness of the program and facilities

 

RCVLLV Care and Duties:

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the learning center as well as report any need/issues involving the facility
  • Organization of equipment room and coordinating appropriate equipment
  • Outside the facility visual maintenance (clubs, tape, cones, buckets, balls picked up, etc)

QUALIFICATIONS:

•          Preferred Experience
At least two years experience in youth development and/or

At least two years experience as a credentialed school educator and/or

At least two years experience as a golf professional.

•          Education

Graduation from an accredited high school or an equivalent certificate or diploma recognized by the State. Bachelors Degree in the areas of sports administration, education, recreation or related field required.

The First Tee Coach preferred, but at least The First Tee Level I trained required.

•          SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of – The game of Golf, rules and etiquette, The First Tee Life Skills Experience, The First Tee Nine Core Values, The First Tee Mission and Education Objective. The use of personal computers and various Windows-based applications programs. Basic telephone etiquette, the proper use, and operation of telephone and related communications systems. Business letter writing and the standard format for typed materials. Basic record keeping principles and practices, basic business mathematics, and the operation of standard office equipment.

Ability to – Give excellent customer service, communicate clearly and concisely in oral and written English. Read, understand, and apply established policies of The First Tee participant services department. Follow oral and written instructions. Work under the pressure of time deadline and perform multiple tasks concurrently. Assess the critical importance of information received from various sources.

Deal effectively and compassionately with the public under normal and confrontational circumstances.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Learn to operate specialized department/office equipment and read and interpret specialized department documents. Operate a personal computer, including spreadsheet and word processing programs, and learn specialized The First Tee programs.

Licenses and Certificates – Possess an appropriate Driver License with a driving record acceptable to The First Tee.
