We are seeking a Golf Retail Merchandiser for our Golf Operations department who must be a dynamic salesperson to take on the supervision of the Golf Retail Shop and all Golf Retail outlets. This opportunity is perfect for anyone looking for full-time work in the retail and sports industries. Candidates will also handle member and guest relations as far as purchasing both soft goods and hard goods, assisting in recommendations of selections, event registration, tee time scheduling, and more. The Golf Retail Merchandiser will work closely with the Director of Golf and Head Golf Professional to ensure a world class merchandise operation, as well as acting as an overall golf operation supervisor, at the Yellowstone Club.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain a world class appearance and shopping experience, including the presentation of self & other staff members at all points
  • Coordinate special merchandising events, including Trunk Shows, Fitting/Demo Days, Holiday Specials, and more
  • Lead the Yellowstone Club retail "Special Order" program & procedures
  • Lead the Golf side of ShipSticks, UPS, FedEx, and more related to golf club shipping for members & guests
  • Greet golfers as they come in, checking them in and upselling merchandise
  • Oversee all Point of Sale operations and purchases made in the Golf Shop
  • Assist members and guest in answering any questions they may have about specific items
  • Answer phones and handle any incoming scheduling or equipment requests
  • Management of tee sheets, daily pro shop operations, and tournament hosting, as assigned by the Director of Golf
  • Order & Maintain golf tournament gifts/swag, special events, and corporate business orders
  • Organize and supervise daily activities of Golf Shop retail
  • Oversee the inventory of the retail spaces and accordingly place replenishment orders
  • Train seasonal staff on all operations of the Golf Shop
  • Lead a seasonal Golf Shop inventory for both summer and winter operations
  • Work with appropriate departments to ensure accurate pricing and invoicing
  • Review order confirmations and invoices with the Director of Golf according to plans and budgets, implement corrective measures as needed
  • Oversee & Sustain the Open to Buys based on budgets, working with the Director of Golf
  • Create & Preserve Retail Best Practices and Standard procedure manual
  • Inventory folding materials, new fixtures, mannequins, paper, and signage/tags, order and source where necessary
  • Attend & Schedule travel plans and accommodations to industry shows such as, PGA Show, Outdoor Retailer, and more
  • Assist in Golf Shop retail end of season wrap-ups, operational hits & misses, and staff evaluations
  • Complete buys for key golf apparel companies for each season, both winter and summer
  • Excel in first class customer service and sales etiquette, in person, through e-mail, and over the phone
  • Proficient in a variety of computer skills related to Point of Sales systems, scheduling, Microsoft Office, and more
  • Proactive with keeping ahead of retail knowledge, including trends pertaining to hard and soft goods

 

Employee Qualifications:

  • Bachelors' degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of Retail experience, ideally within the Golf Industry
  • 3-5 years of supervisory/management experience
  • Working knowledge of the merchandise industry
  • Basic Understanding of Jonas POS
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational capabilities; Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task & switch between tasks quickly
  • Ability to problem solve & attain "win-win" situation on the fly, as well as thinking on the fly
  • Basic math skills
  • Dynamic personality that can be used to encourage guests to return
  • Flexibility in scheduling to include some weekends and holidays, as these are our busiest times
  • Excellent technical computer skills (MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Proven experience with scheduling, job distribution, and tracking
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with staff, vendors, management, and membership; Maintain a congenial rapport with all those he/she comes in contact with
  • Proven knowledge of world class customer service
  • Bachelors' degree or equivalent experience
  • Three years of golf industry & merchandise industry experience
  • Three years of management experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of world class hospitality and service management
  • Valid Driver's License with clean driving record
  • Excellent technical computer skills (MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to purchase unique swag, gifts, and merchandise
  • Ability to perform additional items assigned by the Head Golf Professional
