About the Club: Founded in 1916, the Princess Anne Country Club is Virginia’s premier coastal private county club destination. We are a traditional, full-service and family-oriented club whose purpose is to provide quality social and athletic services and first-rate facilities in a comfortable atmosphere and home-away-from-home environment. Our facilities include an 18-hole classic layout redesigned by Tim Liddy in 2008 that hosts close to 18,000 annual rounds, a practice range, putting greens and short game practice area, four indoor and eight outdoor tennis courts, fitness and aquatic complexes and a full-service clubhouse built in 2005. Our multi-generational membership is comprised of more than 1,100 families who are heavily invested in the Club’s rich history and traditions.

The Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will have strong private club member service skills and a current and diverse knowledge of daily golf operations and tournament management. He or she must posess sound management practices, solid interpersonal skills and strong private club member service skills. This responsibility requires a hands-on approach to the day to day golf operation. The candidate will be efficient and organized; a proven team-player capable of forging strong working relationships with our team. Equally critical is a personable manner capable of building a credible relationship with the membership.

The Position: This position will assist in the day to day operations of the golf program, including but not limited to: tournaments, clinics, instruction, programs, speed of play, cart fleet, practice facilities, golf retail sales and billing, bag storage, rules enforcement, club cleaning and repair. This individual will work with a Golf Operations Team that includes one Head Golf Professional, three Assistant PGA Professionals, Mechandise and Golf Shop Manager, PGA Intern and outside cart personnel.
This position also requires an individual who is dedicated and highly responsible, who shares a love for the game of golf and intends to help continue growing the game. As an Assistant Golf Professional at the Princess Anne Country Club, this individual will be expected to carry oneself in a professional, upbeat manner providing the members and their guests with consistent first-class service.

Experience Required

Qualifications:
• BA / BS degree, preferred. 
• LPGA apprentice or better, preferred.
• Minimum 1-year experience in the private club sector preferred.
• Experience and capability in the areas of retailing, marketing, and/or sales, customer service, and guest relations preferred.
• Quality written, verbal, interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.
• Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage the total golf operations in a professional and efficient manner in the absence of the Head PGA Professional.
  • Assist with member and guest check-in and fee charges in coordination with the Outside Operations Supervisor.
  • Provide golf instruction and clinics that is consistent with instructional methods, policies and procedures of The PGA of America and The Princess Anne Country Club.
  • Assist in the purchasing, receipt, display, inventory, control, promotion and sales of merchandise.
  • Understand and enforce club policies and procedures of the Golf Operation of the Princess Anne Country Club.
  • Strive to recognize members and politely address them by name – anticipate each member’s need and offers service so they do not have to ask.
  • Be informed of, and promote all club activities and services.
  • Assist in managing and operating the handicap program.
  • Assist in planning and budgeting for the golf operations.
  • Continue education through seminars and clinics to maintain current knowledge of the business.
  • Assist in managing tournaments and outings. Includes operating Golf Genius Tournament software, tournament preparation, and follow up, operating a functioning scoreboard, maintaining pace of play and overseeing awards presentations. and outing including operating Golf Genius Tournament Software.
  • Act as marshal, insuring that all golfers are abiding by club policies and monitoring pace of play.
  • Assist as a starter, ensuring that all golfers are teeing off at the correct tee times and that all golfers have checked into the golf shop before play.
  • Assist with the instruction and day to day operations of the Princess Anne Junior Golfers.
  • Assist with tee times online on Foretees, and operating and managing the website.
  • Assist with emailing the members to notify them of upcoming events and tournament results.
  • Responsible with overseeing the day to day operations of the Princess Anne Ladies Golf Association.
  • Assist in club fitting and providing members and guests with knowledge of golf equipment.
  • Stay up to date with knowledge, training and operating of latest golf technology.
  • Assist with the club repair operation, including an understanding of the Mitchell Lie/Loft Machine.
  • Ensure that golf course is marked bi-weekly, conforming to USGA standard.
  • Participate as an active member of the Princess Anne Country Club Rules Committee while maintaining updated knowledge of the USGA Rules of Golf.
