Description of the Resort:
On the island of Hawai`i's North Kona Coast, Hualälai Resort restores the spirit of another time, the golden days of Hawai`i. Swaying palms silhouette beachfront bungalows and Hawaiian-styled homes. Dramatic greens and fairways carved from lava flows roll along the seacoast. Pathways wind through open dunes, by ancient Hawaiian fishponds, through flowering gardens and fragrant breezes.

One feels it playing the Hualälai Golf Course, a Jack Nicklaus Signature course and the private Ke`olu course designed by Tom Weiskopf, two incomparable layouts that elevate Hualälai’s status as one of the elite golf resorts in the world. The Hualälai golf course is the first Nicklaus design in Hawai‘i and is home to the prestigious PGA Champions Tour Championship (formerly MasterCard Championship). Its spacious clubhouse offers island-style dining at The Hualälai Grille along with traditional golf services. The Ke`olu course, designed by Tom Weiskopf lies in the surging lava hills above the Nicklaus course. It is open to Hualälai Club members and guests only, and its private clubhouse offering first-class services and sweeping ocean views.

Overlooking Küki‘o Bay, the Canoe Club is a casual hideaway reserved exclusively for Hualälai Residents. The Hualälai Canoe Club and the Ke`olu Clubhouse provide Hualälai Club Members with a social and recreational center that they can call their own. The Canoe Club is outfitted with an open-air restaurant, an infinity pool, a children's pool, canoes lining the lawn, and the Alaka'i Nalu: Hualälai's watermen/women, to assist with surfing, snorkeling, and paddling. The Ke`olu Clubhouse is architecturally designed as a traditional kauhale, separate leisurely rooms to relax and enjoy dining, cocktails and social get together with fellow members.

The AAA Five-Diamond Four Seasons Resort Hualälai is a unique resort hotel with boutique services. 24-hour concierge service, valet, and room service, plus in-room details like thick terry bathrobes, fine-woven duvets and down pillows, let guests know that they are never forgotten at Hualälai. The 243 guestrooms are all bungalow-style with private lânai and ocean views, including 51 suites. Four oceanfront pools are part of the Four Seasons design – including a protected lagoon or King's Pond for snorkeling enthusiasts. The complementary Kids for All Seasons program is year-round and supervised for children ages 5 – 12.

As a stay at Hualälai renews the spirit, so does the cuisine nourish the senses with fresh island flavors. The daily catch comes straight from Big Island waters or from the fishponds at Hualälai. This is in keeping with Hawaiian tradition, in which the most coveted fish were raised in ponds by the sea. The organic produce is picked from the mist-covered fields of Waimea, and the chefs bring it all together in a style that is uniquely Hualälai.

At the Four Seasons Resort is the ‘Ulu Ocean Grill and Sushi Lounge, the epitome of fine island dining featuring Pacific fusion cuisine and an elegant, open dining area overlooking the sea. The casual Beach Tree offers beachside dining under wide umbrellas, cooled by the gentle trade winds. Also on the beach is the Residents' Beach House, the place for Hualälai homeowners and Four Seasons guests to enjoy special beachfront events, lunch and cocktails. At the Golf Clubhouse is The Hualälai Grille, an American Steakhouse with a Hawai`i Island flair featuring classic Chateaubriand from the recognized Durham Ranch served in an expansive setting with golf course and ocean views.

The award-winning Hualälai Sports Club and Hualälai Spa blends a variety of healthful programs with nature's essence to create a mauli ola, a power of healing. Spa treatments include aromatherapy, hydro-lipid facials, Swedish massage, Hawaiian lomi lomi massage and deep-cleansing treatments including Hualälai Hot Rock massage. Athletics and sport have always been a part of healthy Hawaiian living, and Hualälai is no exception. The resort is equipped with a 25-meter, four-lane lap pool, eight tennis courts with Rebound Ace surfaces, three separate gyms, a variety of weight machines, free weights, treadmills, upright and recumbent bikes, stair and rowing machines, spinning, step and aqua aerobic classes, basketball and climbing wall and 20 treatment rooms totally 28,000 square feet.

To be fortunate enough to live at Hualälai is to be a part of the true Hawaiian spirit of sharing called aloha. At Hualälai, the tradition of ‘ohana (family) stretches back to King Kamehameha, who shared his beloved Kaÿüpülehu home with generations of family and friends. Emulating Hawaiian kauhale, ancient coastal villages, the villas, homes and custom estates of Hualälai have been grouped in intimate neighborhoods. Beginning at the ocean and rising to the upper slopes of the resort, each neighborhood has its own views and Hawaiian sense of place. To have a home at Hualälai is to return to a peaceful and unhurried way of island living, the way of old Hawai`i.
