Purpose of Position: Under the direction of the Head Golf Professional, the Teaching Professional is salaried non-exempt seasonal position responsible for providing premiere golf instruction to our members and their guests. Ensures the highest level of service as it meets expectations of Club members. Performs all work in accordance with essential functions and responsibilities as described below and in the spirit of the Club's mission and vision.

Responsibilities:

Duties shall include but not be limited to:

  • Leads the club's golf instruction program, including lessons, clinics, golf schools, camps, new member introduction programs, and course rules and etiquette.
  • Research and incorporate state of the art teaching methods. Teaches lessons utilizing V1 video equipment, FlightScope launch monitor and BodiTrak.
  • Provides a welcoming and responsive environment to members and their guests; reserves tee times, books lessons, answers phones, and maintains a friendly, positive, helping, and motivated attitude at all times.
  • Responsible for accurate recordkeeping of all lesson data including but not limited to bookings, lessons given and remuneration.
  • Performs complimentary golf instructional clinics and club fittings in accordance with season calendar.
  • Monitor training aids, video equipment, launch monitors, fitting carts and components, etc. to ensure all are up-to-date and in good working order.
  • Performs club fittings and repair to individual specifications.
  • Play golf with members and act as host for Club members and their guests as needed.
  • Professionally, respectfully, and tactfully interprets, informs and enforces Club policies with members, guests, and staff.
  • Assists professional staff with coordination and promotion of golfing events, such as 9&Dines, Play with the Pro, tournaments, demo days and outings.
  • Reports on instruction program data on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for daily cleaning of teaching area; clears debris from teeing grounds, stores training aides out of sight, vacuums and dusts learning center building,
  • Provides support in the golf merchandising concession to achieve its established mission within the golf operation. Promotes Golf Shop merchandise. Answers Golf Shop telephone calls and assists sales associates as necessary.
  • Observes all Club safety practices and protocols.
  • Keeps informed of industry standards and trends. Pursues related continuing education and training opportunities. Maintains necessary certifications and applicable professional affiliations.
  • Attends and conducts golf and Club related meetings as required.
  • Performs other duties as designated by the Head Golf Professional.

Qualifications:

  • Detailed knowledge of golf industry standards
  • Requires a polished and professional demeanor in manner and appearance
  • Maintains an efficient golf game with a USGA handicap of 5 or less
  • Club Repair skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Computer skills (Excel, Word, Publisher, POS System, Tee Time Software, Event Man, V1, FlightScope and other golf instruction software)
  • High attention to detail and great organizational skills

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Active classification (Class “A” License) in the PGA of America or LPGA
  • 200 hours annually of teaching experience

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Work tasks are performed mainly outdoors and involve physical strength and endurance. Must be able to work in varying temperatures and inclement weather.
  • Requires frequent bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling, intervals of walking, standing, and sitting during the day. Must have the ability to walk rolling terrain.
  • Requires communicating effectively with members, guests, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Must be able to lift and transport up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • May also experience exposure to the following: tobacco smoke, carbon monoxide fumes from cars, equipment, various insects and native/domestic animals, potentially damaging noise levels, and a variety of dirt, mud, dust, pollen, and approved pesticides and cleaning chemicals.
  • Must be able to drive golf carts and use maintenance related equipment.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary vehicles and equipment.

Projected Work Schedule:

Must be available for a full time work schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed. Average hours worked each week to be approximately 50-60 hours. An additional work day may be required during a tournament week. Any expected absence from this work schedule will need to have prior approval from the Head Golf Professional.
