Job Description: Assistant Golf Professional (Entry-Level)

Role Overview: Port Jefferson Country Club is seeking an ambitious, high-energy Entry-Level Assistant Golf Professional. This role is designed for an individual looking to grow their career in golf management by taking ownership of key club programs. Your primary focus will be the development and execution of junior and adult programming, tournament coordination, and supporting the senior professional staff in daily operations. You are the "engine" that ensures our programs run smoothly and our members stay engaged.

Key Responsibilities:

• Programming & Instruction: Lead the development and growth of Junior Golf programs and adult clinics. You will be the primary point of contact for program registration, curriculum planning, and on-course instruction.
• Tournament Operations: Assist in the planning and execution of member tournaments and outings. This includes setting up the Golf Genius software, preparing scorecards, proximity markers, and managing the results/scoring process.
• Operational Support: Act as a "right hand" to the Head Professional and senior staff. Your goal is to proactively handle administrative and operational tasks so the senior team can focus on high-level management and member relations.
• Pro Shop Leadership: Help manage the daily shop flow. This includes accurate member check-in, tee-sheet management via Lightspeed, and ensuring the shop remains "Retail Ready" (cleaning, folding, and restocking) at all times.
• Member Engagement: Build strong relationships with the membership. You are expected to know names, provide "white glove" service, and play golf with members when the schedule permits to foster a community atmosphere.

Professionalism & Uniform Standards:

• The Standard: As a Golf Professional, you set the tone for the entire staff. You must arrive in professional golf attire that is clean, pressed, and reflects the club’s premium brand.
• Conduct: You are expected to "move with purpose." Whether you are on the lesson tee or behind the counter, your energy should signal that you are ready to assist.
• Accountability: You will be responsible for the accuracy of your programs and the cleanliness of the shop during your shifts.

Requirements:

• Career Path: Enrollment in (or intent to enroll in) the PGA Associate program is preferred.
• Availability: This is a full-time seasonal position requiring 30–40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays.
• Skills: Basic knowledge of tournament software and POS systems. Strong communication skills are a must, as you will be dealing directly with parents, members, and guest organizers.

Expectations:

• Shifts: Will include a mix of opening (6:00 AM) and closing shifts depending on the program and tournament schedule.
• Initiative: We are looking for a "self-starter" who identifies what needs to be done before being asked.
