Job Descriptiontop

About the Club:
The University Club of Chicago is a prestigious private city club known for its heritage, community, and commitment to excellence. While the Club does not have its own golf course, members enjoy access to an extensive network of reciprocal clubs offering premier golf experiences. The Club’s Golf Center, featuring two state-of-the-art TrackMan simulators, serves as a year-round venue for instruction, practice, and social play. With over 200 active members, the Golf Society is one of the Club’s most dynamic and engaged member groups.

Position Overview:

The Golf Professional is responsible for leading and enhancing the golf experience at the University Club of Chicago. This position oversees all aspects of golf operations, including instruction, simulator management, and Golf Society programming. The Golf Professional reports to the Athletics & Wellness Director and works closely with the Assistant Manager to ensure a seamless and high-quality member experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Golf Center, including scheduling, maintenance, and member use of the TrackMan simulators.
  • Provide private lessons, group instruction, and clinics for members of all skill levels using TrackMan technology and modern teaching methods.
  • Plan, promote, and manage Golf Society events, tournaments, and outings at both the Club and reciprocal club venues.
  • Develop and facilitate creative programming and competitions to engage members and enhance participation across all skill levels.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with reciprocal clubs to coordinate access and special golf experiences for members.
  • Collaborate with the Athletics & Wellness Director and Assistant Manager to integrate golf programming within the broader Club experience.
  • Assist with merchandise recommendations, simulator software updates, and other operational details that enhance the member experience.
  • Provide a welcoming, professional presence and actively build relationships with members to promote participation and enthusiasm for the game.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of Club operations and member satisfaction.

Schedule:

This is a full-time, on-site position. The schedule includes evenings and weekends to support member play, instruction, and events, with flexibility provided during quieter periods. The Golf Center operates year-round, balancing instructional hours, event coordination, and administrative time. The schedule shifts with the rhythm of the golf calendar—more member events and instruction time during peak seasons and evenings, with additional flexibility during off-peak weeks. It’s a hands-on role that rewards presence, visibility, and engagement with members.

Qualifications:

  • PGA or LPGA Member in good standing (preferred).
  • TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) Certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in golf instruction, event organization, and member engagement.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with TrackMan or comparable launch monitor technology.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Enthusiastic, professional demeanor with a genuine passion for teaching and promoting golf.
