POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

The Assistant Golf Professional is responsible for providing support in all areas of the golf operation. This includes tournament operations, league management, golf shop sales and merchandising, golf cart operations, driving range operations, and daily outside customer service operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Create and support an exceptional experience for customers and visitors
  • Independently manage assigned areas of the golf operation with the support of members of leadership and golf staff
  • Manage and coordinate the execution of golf tournaments and events in conjunction with tournament/event manager
  • Supervise hourly/seasonal staff performing pro shop, outside services and golf cart job responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary contact and support the CommonGround Women’s Club. Also, provide support to the CommonGround Men’s Club as needed
  • Promote CommonGround as a caddie facility so the following goals are achieved: maximization of caddie loops and expansion of player knowledge/support for the Solich Caddie & Leadership Program
  • Assist with golf shop retail management
  • GHIN handicap system maintenance
  • Support and assist food & beverage operations when needed
  • Communicate regularly with customers, CGA staff, CGA volunteers, and CommonGround pro shop, food & beverage, and maintenance staff members
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills including oral and written communication
  • Other duties assigned

 

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • PGA/LPGA Level 2 Associate or higher with experience commensurate with duties described in this job description
  • College degree with major course work in business, golf management or a related field or comparable work experience history
  • Experience in golf shop and/or retail operations, including merchandise selection, pricing, inventory management, and revenue projections
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, golf shop point of sale systems, tee sheet management systems, and tournament management programs (Golf Genius)
  • Proven leadership, communication, management, planning, customer service and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work a schedule that requires flexibility and availability to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects and act a self-starter when required
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Colorado driver's license, provide proof of a safe driving record and maintain a safe driving record and a Colorado driver’s license for continued employment
  • Ability to pass a background check

 

PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • PGA/LPGA Class A Member in good standing
  • Tournament and league management experience
  • Exceptional people and customer service skills
  • At least two years of progressively responsible experience as an assistant golf professional and/or golf pro shop employee
  • Intermediate knowledge of the game of golf, golf instruction, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is frequently performed both indoors and outdoors with frequent exposure to extreme temperatures
  • Work is performed in a daily fee golf course setting where golf operations occur year-round

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work performed is physical in nature and requires sufficient stamina and strength to:
    • Occasionally climb ladders and reach overhead to perform stocking or maintenance
    • Frequent step up/down and to safely operate and enter and exit golf carts and vehicles
    • Occasional lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds from floor to overhead to stock merchandise and empty buckets of range balls into machine
    • Occasional repetitive lifting of up to seventy-five (75) pounds
  • Ability to operate a variety of equipment, including pickup trucks, golf carts, and other golf operations related equipment
