The Director of Golf Operations promotes the game of golf through operational structure and programming that provides a first-class experience for members and guests. The Director of Golf Operations is responsible for the overall management of the entire golf and grounds operations.

 

 ABOUT THE COURSE

Greencastle Golf Club is an 18-hole championship golf course nestled in 212 acres of rolling hills in South Central Pennsylvania. The Greencastle Golf Club is located 3.5 miles from Interstate 81 and 15 miles from Interstate 70, making the course easily accessible to golfers from Hagerstown, Chambersburg, Shippensburg, and even Frederick, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C.

The club is a semi-private course located in a 160-home affluent neighborhood with more homes springing up regularly. The course offers a challenging layout and beautiful views of rolling terrain, along with several ponds and wetlands.  The property includes a golf shop, 20-station driving range, golf simulator, cart barn, maintenance buildings, snack bar on the course, and dining and drinks at the Fireside Pub, a newly-established restaurant that seats up to 60 inside and 50 outside.

The course has been growing steadily over the last four years as the go-to course in the area.  Currently the course has 350 members - individual, family, and corporate - runs 20-25 tournaments each year, and hosts monthly member events to keep members involved and having fun.


EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • 3-5 years of golf course management experience

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

  • Professional verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong computer skills - tournament software, POS, Google sheets and docs

  • Budgeting and financial discipline 

  • Strategic planning experience

  • Experienced instructor with Junior and Women’s Golf experience

  • Excellence in tournament operations

  • Ability to train and manage staff

  • Experience with merchandising

  • Knowledge of grounds operations

  • PGA certification a plus

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Leadership

  • Oversees the management and performance of all golf shop, golf operations, and grounds maintenance

  • Defines strategic objective each year, creates an annual plan to reach desired outcomes, divides the plan into steps, and consistently moves forward toward the next step

  • Leads all staff to excellence and holds them accountable for their goals and organizational expectations

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, trains, coaches, supervises, and evaluates golf staff

 

Programs and Events

  • Oversees, and ensures success of, all tournaments, leagues, and programs, maintaining standards of excellence

  • Plans and implements at least four seasonal member events annually and at least one member event each in-season month of the year

  • Solicits new events (organization and corporate events, fundraisers, tournaments, etc.)

 

Facility Management

  • Oversees Golf Course Superintendent and staff to ensure consistent playability of golf course

  • Surveys course needs and sets priorities

  • Garners and evaluates quotes for quality work, parts, plants, etc.; works with vendors and subcontractors

  • Creates and maintains budget for all projects in conjunction with Business Development

 

 

 Player Development

  • Develops and oversees golf instruction, clinics, junior camp programs, golf schools, and player development programs for all customer segments - individuals and groups

 

 

Business and Financial Responsibilities

  • Oversees the management and performance of all golf shop and and golf operations

  • Establishes sales goals, track weekly sales goals, and forecasts for all golf programs and services; generate, monitor and analyze reports

  • Collaborates on and manages the annual budget for golf operations 


COMPENSATION and BENEFITS

Competitive salary - starting at $50,000 base salary plus lessons - potentially $10k+
