Shall be a Class A member of the PGA or LPGA in good standing providing excellent customer service to all golfers; promote the game of golf for all three Loveland golf courses; enthusiastically provide golf instruction, develop new leagues and tournament opportunities; promote, grow, and enhance the Junior Golf Program; freely provide accurate information on the rules of golf, fundamentals of the golf swing, course management and the mental aspects of the game.

The salary range for this position is $65,100- $100,900 per year with a hiring range of $65,100 - $83,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
Position will close to applicants at 12:00 P.M. M.S.T. on Monday, July 13, 2020.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Hires and trains part year clubhouse staff; manages retail purchases, prices, displays and provides inventory control of golf shop merchandise; prepares and maintains records in regard to daily revenues, monthly and yearly summations, and bank deposits; facilitates the promotion and administration of tournaments and leagues; actively audits cash handling procedures and ensures all revenues are properly recorded; coordinates play on golf course through the use of computer reservation system; manages #1 tee, #10 tee and/or Mini-Course along with daily calls and walk-on golfers to maximize play; provides and coordinates golf lessons for the general public including adults, youth and senior programs; makes budget recommendations and prepares revenue forecasts for Manager of Golf; ensures rental equipment is properly maintained; coordinates public relations and golf promotion with Golf Operations Coordinator; enhances  the City of Loveland image through quality customer service to all golfers.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
Works to support the Golf Division as a whole through cooperative efforts, inventory sharing and staff support as needed.

 

SUPERVISORY DUTIES:
This position is responsible for supervision of City employee(s).

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees: planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, skills and abilities:
Knowledge of principles and procedures of golf shop operations, knowledge of budgeting and merchandising.  Skilled in golf club assembly and repair. Knowledge of standard computer operations and related software applications with word processing, spreadsheets, and golf-related programs.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, co-workers, superintendents, managers and citizens; handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy; communicate effectively both orally and in writing, ability to train, evaluate and discipline employees; organize golf leagues and tournaments.  Strong interpersonal skills; merchandising skills, budgeting and supervisory skills; skill in teaching the game of golf. Knowledge and skills in General Accounting Practices. Proficiency in business software including but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Point of Sale and Tee Time software proficiency.

Education and/or experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a directly related business field from accredited college or university desired.  Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience and five (5) years of experience as an Assistant Golf Pro or higher required.

 

Licensure and/or certifications:
Must possess a valid driver’s license. Class A member of the PGA or LPGA required.

 

Material and equipment directly used:
 Point-of-sale cash register/computer, laser printer, digital camera, calculator, multi-line telephone, fax machine, two-way radio

 

Working conditions and physical requirements:
 Light physical work requiring ability to lift up to 30 pounds; some lifting and carrying; regular walking and standing for work in pro shop; some hand/eye coordination for operation of computer and cash register; foot/eye coordination for operation of golf vehicle equipment.  Required to work indoors and outdoors in varied weather conditions.
