Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club has carved out a piece of paradise on the more than 1,200 acres of beautiful rolling hills of Central Florida. The majestic 77,000-square-foot clubhouse is the gateway for our 593 members.

Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club boasts a riveting 18-hole championship course designed by golf course architect Ron Garl. The majestic course at Golden Ocala incorporates eight masterfully recreated tribute holes from some of the world’s finest golf courses including: Augusta National Golf ClubRoyal Troon Golf Club, Baltusrol Golf Club, Muirfield Village Golf Club, & St. Andrews Links.

During 2015 and 2016, Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club hosted the Coates Golf Championship, an official LPGA Tour event that featured 120 of the top female golfers in the world. Named Top 50 Practice Facility amongst all Private Clubs in 2018 & 2019.

Currently, MacCurrach Golf Course Construction is working on a green renovation. In addition to the greens, we will be doing a greenside bunker renovation, as well. The course will re-open Labor Day Weekend.

Position Overview:

The First Assistant Golf Profssional/Merchandise Manager will work as part of the Golf Professional Staff under the direction of the Director of Golf, responsible for key components of the Golf Shop retail, player development and customer service. The goal will be to consistently provide an exceptional presentation and buying experience for every customer. This position will also be responsible for meeting quarterly sales and inventory goals crucial to the success of the retail operation. This position will be directly responsible for the organization of our Golf Shop Operation (notes, tournament registration, member orders, returns & messages).

  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
  • Skilled at motivating and empowering golf staff into successful team members
  • Able to blend with current operational standards, yet adept enough to contribute toward short and long range strategic planning
  • Possess the ability to solving opportunities and fair judgment
  • Experience in exceptional customer service in a high-end hospitality or retail shop environment
  • High degree of professionalism and commitment to excellence and high standards
  • Detail oriented & able to prioritize workload and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of retail sales & how to create an attractive golf shop
  • Must demonstrate appropriate analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to "follow-through" and creativity.
  • Honesty and integrity.
  • Must be profcient in business related software (Excel, Word, website management) and POS experience is helpful. Jonas Experience is valued.
  • A high level of self-motivation

Key Responsibilities:

  • Highly organized & self-motivated with a relentlessly positive attitude.
  • Supervise and motivate golf shop staff to maintain an exceptional appearance in the Golf Shop.
  • Creating Player Development programs within our ladies program
  • Provide Instruction to all members
  • Assist in creating a junior golf experience
  • PGA Junior Leauge
  • Promote a first-class Member shopping environment to include gift-wrapping & personal shopper experience(s)
  • Oversee a vibrant special-order business and manage placing, tracking, receiving & distribution of special orders, including communicating expected ship date & receipt
  • Maintain excellent member relations and ensure Member expectations are met
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels
  • Maintain excellent filing of records
  • Supervision and management of inventory receiving
  • Assist with all daily procedures.
  • Promote special events in the weekly club e-mail
  • Oversee monthly inventory and ensure systems and procedures are implemented to manage inventory levels, returns and markdown.
  • Attend merchandise shows and conferences to stay current with industry trends.

Compensation:

  • Salary Commensurate with experience
  • 90% Instruction & Junior Camp Revenue (Additional Opportunity if candidate has interest & qualified)
  • Golf Shop Commission
  • Position to make $37,000 - $45,000 (pending if the candidate likes teaching and merchandising) Position can be tailored to you.
