Purpose:  The purpose of a Golf Intern is to assist the golf operations team in all of the day-to-day operations of the department. The Golf Intern is a leader of the Outside Operations, and a key role for assisting the Professional staff and the Golf Retail staff.

 

Major Responsibilities

  • Ensure that each Member and guest receives outstanding member services in a guest friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every Member and guest, maintaining outstanding service standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of guest service.
  • Empowered to guarantee total guest satisfaction, display hospitality and professionalism to our guests at all times, take pride in representing Yellowstone Club professionally with our Members and guests and assure that all transactions with guests are handled in a legal and ethical manner.
  • Understand and apply all property safety and security procedures to maintain a secure and safe environment for employees, Members, and guests at all times.  In the event of an accident or emergency, seek medical attention if necessary and contact the General Manager or Human Resources immediately.
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster and promote a positive working environment.
  • Fully understand the mission statement of the Yellowstone Club, and the vision statement of the YC Golf Operation, delivering the operations level of service and expectations daily.

  • Ensuring that an outstanding level of member service is followed in all facets of the Golf Operation department
  • Aids in the operation of the Outside Operations department, and add to the leadership of this team
  • Assist with annual golf tournaments and special events held at the golf course, as assigned by the Director of Golf & Head Golf Professional à This aspect would have to be earned through job performance
  • Assist the Golf Shop Retail Supervisor with Golf Shop duties and upkeep, as assigned by the Director of Golf & Head Golf Professional à This aspect would have to be earned through job performance
  • Aid in the usage and scheduling of the Golf Simulator & Golf Club Fittings, as assigned by the Director of Golf & Head Golf Professional à This aspect would have to be earned through job performance
  • Daily starter and on-course monitor for member/guest play, as assigned by the Director of Golf & Head Golf Professional à This aspect would have to be earned through job performance
  • Complete PGA Testing based on the timeline set by the Director of Golf and Yellowstone Club Management

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Work ask part of the Outside Operations staff to perform all aspects of the outside operations daily duties, and be a leading force/mentor to the Outside Operations team.
  • Assist the professional golf staff in all tournament processes to ensure that each event is successfully prepared for and organized leading to an exception experience for our Members and their guests, as assigned by the Director of Golf & Head Golf Professional.
  • Develop strong partnerships within the entire golf operation to define, develop, and modify the operation, leading to constant improvement of the overall product.
  • Act as a leader of the Outside Operations team and a direct link to the Golf Professional team.
  • Create recommendations and implement improvements and reporting suggestions to the Director of Golf & Head Golf Professional.
  • Play with Members to encourage the growth of the golf operation and annual rounds, encourage Members to use the golf facilities more regularly, with approval from the Director of Golf & Head Golf Professional.
  • Perform golf operations support to consistently meet overall goals.
  • Rotate through temporary assignments in the Golf Operations Department to obtain a complete picture of day-to-day duties and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn.
  • Participate in various department projects.
  • Provide accurate information about the Club and surrounding area while assisting in delivering a personalized experience for each Member and guest.
  • Maintain positive and effective communication via phone and email, understand that all communication must be complete within 24 hours or less.
    • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established Club policies,  procedures, and standards of service to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
    • Meet departmental productivity, organization, punctuality/attendance and consistency standards.
    • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.  Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful attitude.
  • Treat Members, guests, vendors, customers and co-workers with professionalism and respect at all times. 
  • Maintain privacy of our Members at all time, including the usage of social media.
  • Maintain a clean and neat appearance at all times, both for yourself and the entire staff.

  • Project a favorable image of Yellowstone Club to Members and guests at all times.

Experience/Education Required

  • Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of USGA rules, handicap, course rating system, and the mechanics of the golf swing; All facets of the golf industry
  • Comprehensive knowledge of world class hospitality and service
  • Working knowledge of computer skills (MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • At least two years of customer service experience (preferably golf related)
  • Enrolled in the Golf Intern Program
  • Valid Driver’s License with driving record that meets Yellowstone Club insurance requirements
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with staff, vendors, management, and membership; Maintain a congenial rapport with all those he/she meets

 

 

Experience/Education Preferred

  • Previous experience as a PGA Apprentice, or a Golf Intern
  • Former Customer Service Employment
  • List of previous Playing Experiences and Placement in Golf Tournaments
  • Additional golf related certifications

 

Certificates & Licenses

  • Valid State Driver’s License

 

Computer Skills

  • Basic Understanding of Jonas POS
  • Basic Understanding of Microsoft Office, Especially Excel & Word

 

 

Language Ability

  • Able to speak clearly and effectively with Members, guests, co-workers, vendors and other Yellowstone Club departments.  Able to write clearly and legibly. 

 

Math Ability

  • Able to perform basic math calculations.

 

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve basic problems and/or know when it is necessary to get a manager to assist in problem solving.
