Player Development Director/Assistant Golf Professional

As a member of the Woodhaven Golf Operations team, the Player Development Director/ Assistant Golf Professional will strive to achieve the club’s goal of being “The Friendliest Club in Town” on a daily basis.  

The Player Development Director/ Assistant Golf Professional will be responsible for different facets of golf instruction that takes place on the property to include group clinics, private instruction, junior golf programs, any golf school (team) programs, and club fitting. Along with those responsibilities they will also be responsible for managing of the daily golf operation including managing and tracking play, protecting and controlling assets, supervising parts of the golf staff, assisting with all merchandising functions, managing tournaments, providing excellent customer service to all patrons, and assist Head Golf Professional in any assigned projects.

Player Development Responsibilities;

  • Teaching private and group golf lessons, including clinics to all members.

  • Organizing and coordinating the facility’s instructional program calendar in conjunction with PGA General Manager and Head Golf Professional. 

  • Developing a teaching philosophy that remains consistent throughout the season.

  • Mentoring and training golf associates, ensuring that the teaching philosophy is consistent, specifically assistant golf professionals and player development instructors.

  • Developing customized player development programs for all members including women and juniors.

  • Use of innovative teaching aids and advanced video analysis in teaching methods.

  • Maintaining general upkeep of golf practice range tee, and storage areas.

  • Creating a fun work environment. He/she will inspire, motivate, and lead by example.

  • Accepting the responsibilities of personal decisions and actions, whether negative or positive.

  • Communicating effectively with the entire Golf Operations Team with regards to daily instructional programs.

  • Working closely with Head Golf Professional to communicate the goals and objectives of the Woodhaven CC Golf Operations Team to the membership.

  • Incorporating safe work practices in job performance.

  • Aiding the operations staff as needed with tournaments and daily setup.

  • Developing lesson plans, training associates on the lesson plans, and creating a fun environment for all students based around the plans.

  • Promote and encourage all students to buy equipment and club and merchandise through the Woodhaven Golf Shop.

  • Communicating effectively and professionally with all department heads at Woodhaven Country Club.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Manage Tournament Operations as directed by Head Professional including Leagues & Associations

  • Assist the Head Golf Professional in purchasing, displaying, marketing, selling and reporting of merchandise

  • Provide excellent customer service, professional advice, and assistance to all members and their guests

  • Supervise and manage the total golf operations in a professional and efficient manner in the absence of the Head Golf Professional

  • Lead in golf shop counter shifts and phone call reception when needed

  • Be informed on and promote all club activities and services and be aware of Website updates and social media updates and posting

  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image at all times

  • Train and supervise all personnel in the golf operation as directed by the Head Professional

  • Control and manage play; ensure check-in, and fee collection in coordination with Foretees

Requirements;

Bachelor’s degree, college or university program certificate, or 2-4 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of years and experience preferred.

Energetic and infectious personality to promote and sell golf instruction programs

Class A member of the PGA/LPGA preferred.

Ability to respond to common inquiries or needs of staff members and guests.

Compensation;

$22k-28k Base Annual Salary

$12,000-$20,000 Golf Lesson Income (greater potential with ideal candidate)

$34,000-$48,000 Total Compensation Package
