Merchandising Manager

Founded in 1924, the Orinda Country Club, nestled in the Northern California hills of Orinda, is a beautiful full-service, family oriented private club located 30 miles east of San Francisco in the sunny East Bay.   The Club includes a Willie Watson designed golf course, 8 tennis courts, a Fitness Center, state-of-the-art pool facility and an upscale dining experience.

We currently have an opening for a full time Merchandising Manager.  This position is responsible for purchase, display and sales of all club retail sales including golf, swim, tennis and fitness. All duties of the position shall be performed with a commitment to the highest level of customer service and total satisfaction of all members.

Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Conduct all facets of the merchandising process including ordering, receiving, pricing, creating visual displays and maintaining an attractive, organized and orderly shop and storage area.

Collaborates with Head Golf Professional and Orinda Country Club leadership in identifying and creating merchandise and marketing strategies, buying plans and budgets, including annual sales, expense, turn over ratios and inventory targets.

Performs operational responsibilities in a supportive role for the golf shop operation including but not limited to answering phones, registering players for club events, making tee times, planning, execution, process improvement and best practice sharing.

Maintains strong business and employee relationships by visiting with vendors and members, answering their questions, responding to special requests and describing features and options.

Enhances merchandising and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Follows standard operating procedures for counting monthly inventory and maintains proper inventory levels following open to buy practices. Monitors and manages the availability of stock by ensuring planned launch and replenishment dates.

Oversees special order program and follow up including returned merchandise as well as conducts trunk shows, fashion shows, Holiday sales and mobile pro shop days as scheduled.

Seeks and takes advantage of opportunities as it relates to product and service knowledge, job skills and training while remaining current and knowledgeable in regards to competitors, technology changes and trends.

Knowledge, Skills and Traits:

Communicate effectively and professionally with all associates and guests.

Thorough knowledge of processing information and merchandise via a computer and POS register system.

Have a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, inventory, Internet and order processing systems.

Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret business reports, correspondence and procedures effectively while also accurately presenting information and responding to questions. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions and percentages.
