About this role:

The Manager, Athlete & Program Development will be an integral part of the U.S. National Development Program (USNDP) and its programs focusing on high-performance athlete development and curriculum, athlete grants, coach training, and parent education to further the mission of fostering future generations of American golf talent. This individual will collaborate with various USGA departments and golf industry partners to ensure that the USNDP has best in class athlete development programs, training, and resources for athletes, coaches, parents, and mentors. 


What you'll do:
  • Under the direction of the Senior Athlete Development Specialist, develop and implement the athlete development philosophy, blueprint, and culture and age-appropriate curriculum in line with program objectives for the U.S. National Development Program, including training camps, athlete development webinars, individual athlete development/game improvement plans and resources for national team athletes, grant recipients, states teams and prospect players.
  • Responsible for the educational and logistical implementation of the USNDP athlete development trainings for State Junior Team coaches.
  • Lead the planning and communication of athlete development curriculum and resources in collaboration with industry partners, and manage the execution of educational sessions at designated junior tournaments.

  • Assist with management of consultant engagement, as well as athlete and program development, at USNDP national team camps.
  • Research, design, and produce multi-media resources for the USNDP’s educational library.
  • Assist with evaluation of programming/curricula through surveys, focus groups, etc.
  • Manage USNDP consultant reports, provide summaries of consultant activities, manage and forecast budgets, and help with consultant contracts and deliverables.
  • Organize Athlete Development Advisory Group (ADAG) communication, meetings, and related, unique contributions to maximize involvement.
  • In collaboration with the USNDP grant committee, develop and oversee a streamlined, scalable process for the scoring/review of golf performance measures used to evaluate USNDP Grant applications.
  • Under the direction of the Senior Athlete Development Specialist, take USNDP learning objectives, agendas, and curricula and work with SCORM files to transition, or integrate, with a Learning Management System (LMS).  

Where you'll be:  

  • This role will be based at our Pinehurst, NC campus on a hybrid schedule. Employees are expected to spend 3 days per week working in the office, between Monday - Thursday. Candidates should have the ability to travel up to 12-15 weeks per year.

What you bring:

  • 5+ years’ experience in athlete development and/or program development and/or adult education/training
  • Competitive golf experience at an elite level (i.e., college level or higher) and/or coaching/teaching elite golfers (i.e., juniors or higher) is required
  • M.A. or M.S. in sports management or administration, education, curriculum & instruction, instructional design, communications, sports psychology, or related field strongly preferred
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong organizational skills
  • Collaborator and relationship builder
  • Ability to work independently and support the team in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to follow and execute detailed plans – able to anticipate and analyze problems and provide logical solutions
  • Self-motivated and a motivator
  • Experience in managing budgets is a plus
  • Ability to travel up to 12-15 weeks per year

 

Level: Manager/6A

Job Location: Pinehurst, NC    

Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000

The annual base salary range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000. This range represents what we reasonably expect to pay as starting base compensation for this role. Compensation is based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including skill set, depth of experience, and relevant certifications. In addition to your base compensation, the USGA provides competitive benefit offerings for all full-time employees.
