The Vail Golf Club is located at the base of the Gore Mountain
Range within the White River National Forest. Located five (5)
minutes east from the base of Vail Mountain Resort, Vail Golf Club
is the only golf course located within the Town of Vail. The Vail
Golf Club is municipally owned by the Town of Vail and operated
by the Vail Recreation District which provides Town of Vail
Residents, Eagle County residents, and non-resident guests with
year-round recreational opportunities throughout Eagle County.

The Vail Golf Club is an 18-hole public facility averaging 24,000
rounds during its 5-month season from May-October. During the
winter months, the Vail Golf Club transforms into the Vail Nordic
Center with 19 kilometers of groomed Nordic Skiing and 10
kilometers of packed snowshoe and fat biking trails. Although,
the Vail Golf Club is located in the Rocky Mountains, the course
is considered a “valley course” with slight elevation changes
throughout the facility leading to a very walkable facility enjoyed
by players of all skill levels.

The golf course was originally opened in 1964 and was designed
by Vail legend Ben Krueger. Originally opening as a nine-hole
facility, the golf course was expanded to 18 holes in 1966. Playing
from 6,786 years from the championship tees, the course is
relatively short by mountain standards but bares its teeth with
its green complexes, and narrow landing areas. The practice
facility offers a full grass driving range, two chipping greens, and
a putting green for a variety of practice options. Aside from golf,
the Grill on the Gore serves not only golfers but vail residents with
a full-service bar and restaurant with one of the most scenic patios
in all of the Vail Valley.

The Assistant Golf Professional will assist in the management of the Golf operation working closely with the Director of Golf and Head Golf Professional. This position will provide exemplary leadership to both operations by demonstrating excellent service to the Vail Resident, Eagle County Resident, and Non-resident guest.

Teamwork is a key component of success at this position, including maintaining strong professional relationships with other leaders within the Vail Recreation District, Vail Golf Club Passholders, and Vail Recreation District Board Members. The ensures the Golf operation is coordinated and executed successfully.

This position is asked to mentor and encourage the advancement of PGA Interns and staff members towards their future professions whether that is within the golf industry or another industry as the develop within the Vail Recreation District.
