The Opportunity:

Northwood Club is seeking an experienced and engaged Senior Assistant Golf Professional to join our team.  The ideal candidate would have a passion for the golf business, a love for the game, and a desire to help others enjoy the game.  Additionally, we are looking for someone with extensive tournament operation experience and excellent communication and organizational skills.  We are here to deliver the Northwood Experience to our members and their guests, so we are looking for someone to contribute to that and help us improve.

 

About Northwood Club and Existing Staff:

At Northwood Club, we have a large team that delivers the Northwood Experience to a large and active membership.   We facilitate approximately 30,000 rounds per year, and we stay busy with innovative Junior Development Programs, Member Tournaments, and an Award-Winning Golf Shop.  

We are focused on developing and improving as individuals and as a team.  We are committed to changing the narrative of what life is like as a Golf Professional by supporting these initiatives.

  • 5 Day Work Week
  • Rotating 4 Day Weekend Off
  • Only 2-3 Golf Shop Shifts per week, providing ample time to teach, fit, play with members, or stay on top of other responsibilities.
  • Required rounds of golf played with members
  • Departmentalized responsibilities (allowing pros to focus on specific areas of the operation rather than the entire operation; Example: Jr. Program Manager, Men's Tournament Manager, Club Fitting & Repair Manager, etc.).
  • Required participation in NTPGA Section Events

 Responsibilities: 

  • This is a leadership role. Senior Assistant Professionals are responsible for the engagement and development of two Assistant Professionals or Assistants in Training (AIT’s) that are in their “development pod”.  They will be viewed as a resource to others and should conduct themselves in a way deserving of that respect.
  • Deliver the fun, personal, relaxed, and enjoyable experience that is the Northwood Experience.
  • Manage tournament operations and weekly events including planning, pre-tournament checklists, post- tournament billing, promotion, course set-up, preparation, scoring, prize distribution, and follow up.
  • Work closely with other staff members to manage and assign tasks related to tournament operations
  • Play golf with a variety of Members.
  • Assist members in finding groups to play with.
  • Assist with conducting a thorough Jr. Golf Program; Active and busy schedule including approximately 130 kids between the ages of 4-13.
  • Assist in all golf operations planning and budgeting.

 

Skills & Desired Traits:

  • Experience working as part of a Team.  Someone who puts their team first.
  • Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Display a love of the game.  Love to Play.  Love to help others with their game.  
  • Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills. 
  • Service and Member focused attitude.
  • Experienced computer user including Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher. Proficient in other applications such as Northstar POS software, Canva Visual Design Suite, Golf Genius Tournament & Golf Shop Software, etc.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as an Assistant Golf Professional
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet the club's and its members' needs.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience managing and motivating staff.
